"Our entry-level Newton floorstanding speaker - the T100 - combines high performance with high value. The T100 addresses the need for a compact, full-range, freestanding loudspeaker for traditional stereo music as well as main speakers for home theater. It provides very large sound in a very compact size. The T100 uses a pair of 5-1/4"" woofers in a sealed enclosure with a downward facing vent.Using two woofers keeps bass performance on par with a single 8"" driver. The most noticeable impact of the dual small woofer arrangement is that the dispersion angle remains wide through the midrange. Due to the affordable nature of the T100, it is likely to be used with entry level electronics. Particular emphasis was paid to making it an easy load to drive. The impedance does not drop below 8 Ohms, and the overall impedance curve is very flat. Sensitivity is very high at 91dB, a beneficial side effect of the dual woofer arrangement. The compact size of the T100 makes it a practical alternative to satellite or bookshelf speakers on floor stands. The wider response range of the T100 facilitates use of a lower crossover point to a subwoofer, which can improve the blend through the midbass range. This can be a significant advantage in many rooms, particularly those where the subwoofer may be on a side or rear wall. Like all of our Newton Series speakers, the T100s feature the finest drivers, precision internal crossover circuitry and an elegant enclosure design. We believe that the T100 represents the best combination of audiophile-level attention to detail and reasonable cost.
